This International Women in Engineering Day (INWED) 2026, we’re celebrating the women across NeoDyne whose expertise, leadership and dedication contribute to the success of our projects, our customers and our business. 

From industrial automation to power generation and critical infrastructure, women across NeoDyne play a key role in delivering projects across some of the world’s most demanding industries. 

INWED is an opportunity to celebrate those achievements and recognise the contribution women make to engineering, both at NeoDyne and across the wider profession.

Building the Future Pipeline of Engineers

While INWED is a celebration of women in engineering today, it’s also an opportunity to inspire the next generation of engineers. 

Women make up approximately 15% of the engineering workforce, highlighting the importance of encouraging more women to get into STEM. At NeoDyne, we believe this starts with early exposure to engineering and real-world problem-solving. 

Over the past year, NeoDyne welcomed students from several all-girls secondary schools as part of our Transition Year programme, introducing them to design, automation and programming. Using CAD software and smart home technology kits, students gained hands-on experience in automation, electronics and embedded programming. 

By experiencing engineering in a practical and engaging way, students gained a greater understanding of the opportunities available within engineering and the skills needed to pursue them.

Supporting Students Through University

Our commitment to developing engineering talent continues throughout the university journey. 

According to Engineers Ireland, while 24% of engineering students are female, only 12% go on to work in engineering careers. Closing this gap remains a significant challenge for the sector. 

At NeoDyne, we’re helping to address this through our university placement programmes that give students first-hand experience of working in engineering. 

This year, NeoDyne welcomed 17 placement students from five universities, providing opportunities to work alongside experienced engineers on real-world projects across automation, power systems, renewable energy and critical infrastructure. 

These placements allow students to gain practical experience, develop technical skills and build confidence while working on projects that deliver meaningful outcomes for industry. 

We also continue to strengthen our partnerships with universities through careers fairs, placement programmes, industry events and student engagement activities designed to encourage more women to pursue careers in engineering and technology.

Driving the Conversation Around Women in STEM

Creating lasting change requires more than recruitment programmes. It requires open conversations about the barriers women face in engineering and the actions needed to improve representation across the profession. 

NeoDyne also creates opportunities for students to hear directly from industry professionals about the realities of a career in engineering. 

One such event saw NeoDyne present to the Engineering Society at University College Cork, exploring the opportunities and challenges facing women in engineering. 

The discussion focused on strengthening the engineering talent pipeline, supporting graduates as they enter the profession, and creating workplace environments where women can build rewarding long-term careers. 

These conversations play an important role in encouraging greater participation in engineering and helping future generations see themselves represented in STEM careers.

Creating Careers Where People Can Thrive

Creating long-term opportunities means investing in career development as well as early talent initiatives. Through professional development, leadership training and structured career progression opportunities, we’re committed to helping our people build rewarding long-term careers. 

In 2026, we will introduce a structured professional development framework as part of Project Ascend, providing employees with greater support and clearer pathways for career development and progression. 

By investing in our people, we are helping to create a workplace where diverse perspectives are valued and where innovation can flourish.
