NeoDyne is seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to support one of our key client sites on a contract basis. The successful candidate will work closely with the NeoDyne team and play a critical role in delivering automation expertise across the Mayo based site.

The primary function is to support the integration of a new filling line into an existing manufacturing automation environment. The role will focus on PLC programming, controls integration, and batch process automation within a live production facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Integrate new process equipment into the existing plant automation architecture.
• Develop and modify PLC software to support tank transfers, pump and valve sequencing, process routing, CIP operations, process interlocks, and safety logic.
• Develop and adjust phase logic within the FactoryTalk Batch environment.
• Work within existing ISA-88 batch structures and site automation standards.
• Collaborate with Batch/System Engineers to integrate equipment into batch recipes and process models.
• Design and implement interface and handshake logic with OEM filling machine control systems.
• Support integration across multiple PLC systems within live production areas.
• Participate in commissioning, troubleshooting, start-up, and operational support activities.

Required Experience & Skills

• Strong PLC programming experience, ideally with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell platforms.
• Experience within batch or process manufacturing environments.
• Experience with FactoryTalk Batch or similar batch control systems.
• Strong understanding of ISA-88 batch control principles.
• Experience integrating new equipment into existing automation systems.
• Experience working with pumps, valves, process instrumentation, and tank transfer systems.

What will I be doing?

• Data Centre and Substation Electrical Design: Projects could include preparation of coordinated drawings covering all aspects of installations, including mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and structural elements. More specifically, you will be producing Electrical Design including, Electrical Layouts, LV & MV Distribution Design, Control & Instrumentation Design and General Services Design. You will have the opportunity to use state-of-the-art engineering software for control and protection design and substation layouts.
• Carrying out Power Systems Electrical Studies: Load Estimates, Protection Coordination, Cable Sizing Calcs. You will have the opportunity to use state-of-the-art engineering software along side leading-edge power system modelling software to run steady state and transient electrical studies, including short circuit studies, and protection studies for proposed renewable generation
• Generating technical documentation: You will be producing specifications for various electrical equipment and assemblies: transformers, RTUs, instrumentation etc. Dealing with customers will also be key parts of our graduate programme to help develop your soft skills.
• You will also have the opportunity to travel to customer sites to get involved in installation, testing, and commissioning, by participating in design & commissioning of SCADA and control systems in the field: I/O and instrumentation testing, full testing and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

Design and Engineering

• Develop Protection and Control (P&C) designs for HV and MV substations, including protection schemes, control schematics, SLDs, and interlocking diagrams.

• Prepare Protection Coordination Studies, fault current calculations, and relay grading reports.

NeoDyne are recruiting a highly skilled MES Engineer (POMSnet) to work on leading-edge automation projects, predominantly in the Energy, Life Science and Food & Beverage sectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance of the POMSnet Manufacturing Execution System (MES). You will author and maintain recipes and worksheets for the manufacturing site using the POMSnet system. You will also troubleshoot and provide solutions for any MES related problems in recipe execution and recipe authoring.

• Provide technical training for all other site personnel on their related MES roles and arrange system access.
• Provide support to other MES system users as required to ensure business continuity, this might include support to Engineering, Manufacturing, Validation and Facilities departments.
• Participate in NPI projects from initiation to ensure MES system or hardware requirements are taken into consideration.
• Documentation of all activities in line with cGMP requirements.

Required

• 3+ years’ experience working with validated Automation systems in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, blue chip or relevant GMP manufacturing environment.
• Third Level qualification in suitable manufacturing, engineering or business course and/or suitable experience.
• A minimum of 2 years recipe authoring experience preferably using POMSnet.
• Be familiar with MES application and configuration rules and requirements including interfacing (preferably POMSnet).
• Database design and development in Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle.
• UX design and development in Angular, C#, Javascript, ASP.Net Core.
• PLC Programming/HMI/SCADA experience desirable: Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider, etc.
